EDP Renewables SA on Thursday said it would construct a solar park in California, its first multi-technology project in North America.

The new facility will provide power to East Bay Community Energy. EDP said its fully-owned subsidiary, EDP Renewables North America LLC, signed a 20-year power purchase agreement with East Bay, totaling 100 megawatts of solar and 30 MW of storage.

The Sonrisa Solar Park, which will comprise both solar and storage technologies, is expected to begin operations in 2022.

East Bay Community Energy, an electricity provider in California's Alameda County, says it is committed to providing its customers with clean energy.

Energias de Portugal S.A. is the principal shareholder of EDP Renewables.
