Ferrari NV said late Thursday that Louis Camilleri will resign from his role as chief executive officer and member of the board of directors effective immediately due to personal reasons.

Executive Chairman John Elkann will act as interim CEO while the board identifies Mr. Camilleri's successor, the Italian sports-car maker said.

Mr. Camilleri took over as CEO of Ferrari in July 2018 after the sudden death of Sergio Marchionne.
