- New contracts demonstrate Brillion’s
increased competitiveness across a broad range of industries
Accuride Corporation (NYSE: ACW) – a leading supplier of
components to the North American and European commercial vehicle
industries – announced that its Brillion Iron Works business unit
has been awarded contracts for $6.5 million in annualized new
business across a broad range of industries and applications,
including the defense, industrial, municipal, automotive and
commercial-vehicle sectors. Earlier this month, Brillion announced
that it had secured a major long-term contract to supply
transmission flywheels to the Detroit™ subsidiary of Daimler Trucks
North America. Together with the Detroit contract, these awards
help to further diversify Brillion’s revenue sources and boost
utilization of its foundry operations with approximately $14
million in annualized new business.
Brillion’s recent commercial wins closely follow its investment
in a new DISA 250-C molding line and upgraded production
capabilities. The enhancements increase Brillion’s high-volume
production capacity and are helping it secure the new contracts.
With 20 percent greater capacity than the previous line, Brillion’s
new DISA 250-C utilizes high-speed, flexible green sand molding and
automated pouring to produce both austempered ductile and gray-iron
castings.
“Our investments in new capacity coupled with our improved cost
structure and relentless focus on Lean systems are enabling
Brillion Iron Works to win in today’s intensely competitive
marketplace,” said David G. Adams, President, Brillion Iron Works.
“Our strengthened capabilities are delivering greater value to
customers while helping them reduce supply-chain complexity.
Producing fully machined castings through our partnership with
Diamond Precision and the United Steelworkers expands the potential
applications for our services, and opens up new markets for
Brillion.”
