Other Events
On November 4, 2009 in Singapore, Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing Ltd. (the “Company”) issued
an announcement reporting the results of (1) the meeting of ordinary shareholders of the Company
(the “Court Meeting”) convened at the direction of the High Court of Singapore to approve the
previously announced proposed acquisition of the Company by ATIC International Investment Company
LLC (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Advanced Technology Investment Company LLC (“ATIC”)) by way of a
scheme of arrangement under Section 210 of the Companies Act, Chapter 50 of Singapore, (2) the
Company’s extraordinary general meeting and (3) the class meeting of holders of convertible
redeemable preference shares of the Company, each held on the same day.
On the same day, the Company and ATIC also jointly issued a press release announcing the results of
the Court Meeting.

the joint press release by the Company and ATIC and the announcement by the Company, each
dated November 4, 2009, are attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1 and Exhibit 99.2, respectively.
