Bank of America Merrill Lynch has appointed Vinit Sahni as global head of rates and currency sales to hedge funds and central banks, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Sahni, who is expected to join the bank in January and will be based in Hong Kong, will also be responsible for rates and currency sales to real money accounts in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, the person said.

Sahni was previously co-head of fixed income, currencies and commodities sales for non-Japan Asia at Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS), until he left in early September. Before joining Goldman Sachs, Sahni was global head of rates sales at Deutsche Bank AG (DBK.XE).
