-- BorgWarner's facility in Seneca,
South Carolina, received a 2015 Silver Crescent Award for
Manufacturing Excellence during a luncheon at the South Carolina
Manufacturing Conference and Expo. Presented by SC Biz News and
Dixon Hughes Goodman, the award
recognizes superior performance in seven categories, including
citizenship, employee engagement, customer satisfaction,
environmental stewardship, innovation, financial performance and
longevity plan. This is the second Silver Crescent Award received
by the facility.
"At BorgWarner, we are as passionate about product leadership as
we are about supporting the communities where we work," said Dr.
Stefan Demmerle, President and
General Manager, BorgWarner TorqTransfer Systems. "We would like to
sincerely congratulate our employees for their hard work in
building our reputation as a world-class transfer case supplier and
their dedication to promoting manufacturing, supporting education,
and helping those in need. We are very proud of their
achievements."
As a supplier for many major OEMs in North America, BorgWarner's facility in
Seneca produces transfer cases for
four-wheel drive and all-wheel drive pickup trucks, sport utility
vehicles and passenger cars. Since 2008, BorgWarner has created
over 540 manufacturing jobs at the Seneca plant, providing a direct economic
boost to the region. To support the growth of manufacturing,
Seneca plant leaders helped found
the Oconee County Industrial Group, work closely with the Oconee
County Economic Development Agency and participate on the board of
directors of various organizations.
BorgWarner also supports the local community through financial
investment and employee engagement. At the annual Anderson, Oconee and Pickens Business and Industry
Showcase, BorgWarner encourages over 5,000 students to consider
manufacturing careers. The company supplies jet toy kits for the
Society of Automotive Engineering - A World in Motion program for
elementary schools in Oconee
County, and offers scholarships, co-op opportunities and
study programs through Tri-County Technical
College and Clemson
University. In 2014, employees at the Seneca plant donated 1,539 pounds of
nonperishable food items, sponsored 80 Salvation Army angels and
contributed $30,000 to organizations,
charities and individuals in need within the county.
