KIOSK to Offer Intel Security Solutions into
its Internet of Things Self-Service POS Systems for Better Secured
Consumer and Retailer Data
Intel Security today announced they are collaborating with KIOSK
Information Systems (KIOSK), the global leader in custom
self-service solutions, to provide even better retail kiosk
security options. KIOSK provides licensing options for deployers to
secure their self-service retail platforms with Intel® Security’s
McAfee Integrity Control™ technology before shipment and
installation, enabling safer connected Internet of Things (IoT)
devices used by consumers and global retailers. This collaboration
addresses the need for cybersecurity solutions to protect the
growing number of connected devices used in the retail industry;
and is key to mitigating some of the significant control, security,
and compliance challenges specific to retailers.
“By adding Intel Security’s technology as an integral part of
our services offerings, KIOSK will be able to continue to deliver
optimal security positioning for retailers to use globally, while
maintaining a high-level of protection for consumers. It’s also an
excellent way to differentiate our solutions by addressing some of
today’s most pressing customer data security issues,” said Tom
Weaver, CEO of KIOSK.
Despite 2014 being widely considered the year of the retail data
breach, connected technologies in the retail industry will continue
to grow as next-generation devices enable retailers to better serve
their customers’ needs. Worldwide, more than 3 billion people are
currently online and it’s estimated that 75 billion devices will be
connected by 2020, with millions of POS devices accessing the
Internet. The data on these devices is attractive to hackers
looking to leverage credit card information and other customer data
for their own financial gain. Built-in security is a key element in
the effort to reduce the risks to businesses and consumers.
McAfee Integrity Control provides extensive protection for
retail devices, including self-service transactional kiosks. With
this safeguard in place, retailers are better positioned to thwart
cyber thieves looking to access information-rich retail data. This
solution combines antivirus, application control and dynamic
whitelisting abilities, with McAfee® Endpoint Protection Suite and
McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator® Deep Command software. Retail System
Providers can tailor performance for new and legacy devices, as
well as address some of the requirements outlined by the Payment
Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS) council.
“Now more than ever before, retailers must be ever-vigilant in
protecting the valuable information they hold,” said Tom Moore,
Vice President of World-Wide Embedded Sales at Intel Security.
“It’s important for consumers to know that companies like KIOSK are
working to protect their financial information from cyber threats,
by trusting Intel to ingrain security deep into the framework of
its retail systems.”
Intel Security will enable KIOSK to better protect consumer data
from zero-day vulnerabilities, unapproved applications and other
threats, while helping to limit the patching cycles typically
required. These factors are vital to maximizing KIOSK’s ability to
continuously deliver innovative solutions to global retailers while
also putting the utmost priority on protecting data that continues
to become increasingly attractive to criminals worldwide. This
combination of both companies’ capabilities highlights the growing
need for OEMs of retail systems to understand and incorporate the
latest security technologies.
