April 25 (Reuters) - Intel forecast second-quarter revenue and profit below market estimates on Thursday, as it faces weak demand for its traditional data center and personal computer chips amid efforts to build its contract manufacturing business.

Shares of the Santa Clara, California-based company fell close to 6% in extended trading.

The company expects second-quarter revenue in the range of $12.5 billion to $13.5 billion, compared with analysts' average estimate of $13.57 billion, according to LSEG data.

Down 8% instantly in extended

Ouch! Hope the tech sector gets some adjusting.

Just got a $1K more in hopes for an earnings blowout tonight!!!!! Sell those EOD tomorrow. Historically, INTC will drop post up day following earnings.

I don’t think they’ll catch up on earnings for a few years. Just a feeling. Holding long and waiting for good dividends again.

The Full Stochastics Oscillator looks like it is closest at it lowest point. This suggests it may be near a change to a rising direction.

However, it will take many other positive changes along the path to lead to a price Breakout.

We should see the Dailies turn to Uptrend from Downtrend now.

I think it may have been what I heard briefly in the news on tv that Biden Adm has changed again its mind.

It's back to not to fund microchip manufacture by Intel. what may be the concern is not clear. AI technology technology itself in process of development.

I have ALL hopes that it will get a piece of this AI boom!

I changed my plan to buy more shares adding to what I already have in my port, instead I bought more Apple shares adding on the shares I have. My broker ranks it an A the highest ranking for investment.

Intel will need a long time before it gets ready to produce/manufacture the new microchips. I know Intel company has had a great reputation for its "Intel Inside" computers that I continuously bought and used for few decades from Hewlett Packard company.

Presently I am using a new one that the HP computer produced and the monitor includes the CPU as well all neat in one desktop unit.

Presently, my average cost is $45.44 and today it is at $42.55 With the good news of funding the chip manufacture in the USA the shares are good to have in any balanced portfolio. The long term is now looking better for intc stock.

Currently intc share price appears to be consolidating within a longer-term uptrend. The Average Directional Index, or ADX, is below 20, indicating that shares have traded sideways recently. However, the 200-day is still sloping bullishly upwards. Comparative Relative Strength analysis shows that this issue is lagging the S&P 500

The technical picture based on the Fast Daily Stochastic Oscillator turned up yesterday at about in the bottom area . I doubt it will linger there for long.

I think the Weekly could be getting ready to follow as well, since it is in the bottom area as well. Tomorrow this may happen.

Though the momentum has been strongly bearish. The 14-period Slow Stochastic oscillator is below 20, the level which many analysts call oversold.

May be we get a clearer picture by tomorrow.
