Deutsche Lufthansa AG (LHA.XE) subsidiary Austrian Airlines said Thursday that it will spend more than 200 million euros ($228.1 million) to expand its fleet of Airbus SE (AIR.FR) aircraft as part of its new strategy.

Over the next three years, Austrian Airlines will increase its Airbus planes to 46 from 36 currently, it said.

The new aircraft will help the airline strengthen its position in Vienna amid tougher competition, Austrian Airlines said.
