PORTLAND, Ore., Nov. 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Rentrak
(NASDAQ: RENT), the leader in precisely measuring movies and
TV everywhere, today announced the top weekly cross-platform
entertainment rankings for Nov. 11,
2015.
Sony's "Spectre" enjoyed two consecutive weekends at the top of
the global box office chart with an impressive $190.8 million weekend performance. It
simultaneously led the North American box office with the second
biggest Bond debut ever—$70.4 million. Fox's "The Peanuts Movie"
opened in second place with a terrific $44.2
million.
For the second week in a row, Universal's summertime blockbuster
and the holder of the crown for the biggest opening weekend in box
office history, "Jurassic World," made its prehistoric mark on both
Rentrak's Movies on Demand and DVD and Blu-ray sales charts,
while Melissa McCarthy in the action
comedy "Spy" led DVD and Blu-ray rentals. Finally,
digital purchases and rentals were given a seismic jolt by
Dwayne Johnson in "San Andreas"
after five weeks on the chart.
Fox's ever-popular "Empire" had the most engaged viewers once
again this week in broadcast while AMC's "The Walking Dead"
remained a big hit on cable. Wrapping up this week's
highlights, the battle rounds continued for NBC's "The Voice"
and Cassandra Robertson vs. Viktor Király: "Nobody Knows"
garnered 1.5M+ views on YouTube to lead our combined
social media and digital engagement chart.
