VCA Animal Hospitals announced that select VCA hospitals in Northern California are offering free boarding assistance to dogs and cats, and other species at some hospitals to families affected by the forest fire in Butte County. The Camp Fire has forced large-scale evacuations in the town of Paradise and left thousands of people without power.

“When residents with pets are faced with mandatory evacuations and they need to find a safe place to take their pets, we are here to help,” said Art Antin, Chief Operating Officer of VCA Animal Hospitals. “Our hospitals in the area are extending free boarding for pets, so evacuated families can be assured that their pet is in a safe environment.”

Boarding assistance at participating Northern California hospitals is based on space availability. Pets should be current on vaccinations, but in case they are not, VCA veterinarians will update vaccinations free of charge. VCA Hospitals will also offer a free health assessment exam for pets that have been evacuated or displaced due to the Camp Fire.

Affected pet owners who need help boarding their pets are encouraged to identify a hospital near them and call for boarding availability.
