Awarded Contracts by China's SNPEC for Four Nuclear Reactor Projects SHANGHAI, Oct. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- As the world's second largest power market, China is making a significant investment in its nuclear power infrastructure; developing the most advanced third-generation reactors and aiming to increase its wattage tenfold, adding 70 Gigawatts by 2020. Tyco Flow Control has been working with China to meet its demand for nuclear solutions, and was awarded two separate contracts to provide the critical safety valves for four state-of-the-art nuclear reactors, the first in the world installed with Westinghouse's newest AP1000 Gen3+ reactor technology. "Tyco Flow Control is the right choice, with the right capabilities to help China meet its alternative energy goals," said Tian Jinlin, Vice Chief Engineer, State Nuclear Power Engineering Company (SNPEC). "The company's dedication to providing local support throughout the country, coupled with its long track record of engineering excellence and reliability of its nuclear products and technology make it an ideal partner." Of the approximately 100 nuclear reactors set to be built worldwide over the next 10 years, about 70 will be built in China. To best support China's needs, Tyco Flow Control has significantly expanded its presence in China in the power generation market. It has established a team of more than 50 direct nuclear power sales engineers dedicated to providing localized, customized support and products certified to meet the stringent safety requirements for nuclear power generation. This has also helped to strengthen procurement relationships for nuclear products within the country. "For decades, Tyco Flow Control has delivered state-of-the-art engineering, product and testing services to the global nuclear power market, and our reach continues to grow as we help China build its power generation infrastructure," said Patrick Decker, president of Tyco Flow Control. "Our on-the-ground capabilities enable us to bring our global nuclear industry expertise to meet China's needs on a very local level. We remain committed to providing the highest quality solutions that ensure safety and reliability in the most critical power generation applications and help create a greener and more sustainable source of energy." These recent contracts in China came on the heels of Tyco Flow Control's announcement that its Sempell AG group received "Top AREVA Supplier" designation, in recognition for excellence in its nuclear products and services and quality that meets AREVA's strict criteria.
