New $40 Million Las Vegas Mega Theater to Benefit From Light
Quality, Reduced Costs SOLON, Ohio, March 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/
-- Fiberstars, Inc. (NASDAQ:FBST), the global leader in fiber optic
lighting, today announced the installation of Fiberstars EFO(R)
lighting in the new $40 million custom-built theater at the
Venetian Resort Hotel in Las Vegas. Home to Phantom: The Las Vegas
Spectacular -- an all-new production based on the original Phantom
of the Opera -- the 1,800-seat playhouse is the latest in a series
of EFO systems currently installed within major hotel chains along
the Las Vegas strip. "When developing plans to customize the
theater, our vision was to do something unique and different in
order to remain consistent with the other elaborate venues and
theaters which have become a staple of Las Vegas entertainment,"
said Vivien Leone, associate lighting designer for the Phantom of
the Opera. "However, we also wanted to cover every level of detail,
which included selecting a lighting system that would significantly
reduce maintenance costs. Fiberstars EFO not only met these
criteria, but far surpassed expectations when you factor in the
time and manpower required, as well as the high energy costs
associated with alternative lighting approaches." EFO systems were
installed into wall fixtures located on the dome-shaped roof of the
theater, replacing the proposed MR16 halogen bulbs reducing energy
consumption while minimizing installation costs. The EFO systems is
integrated into the theater's DMX lighting system protocol used by
engineers to control the various lighting adjustments required
throughout a performance. In addition, with traditional lighting
systems, replacing burned out bulbs would be a difficult task as
not all bulbs would have been accessible via catwalk and therefore
scaffolding would need to be brought in. Fiberstars EFO resolves
this problem saving time as well dramatically reducing maintenance
costs. "With everything that goes into producing such an
extravagant show, most individuals don't realize how critical a
role lighting technology plays in putting on a successful
performance," said Fiberstars' CEO John Davenport. "Not only does
this installation highlight the savings benefits with regards to
energy usage and installation, but also the value of our remote
access capabilities and EFO's ease of use when combined with other
lighting systems such as stage and house lights." Fiberstars
products can be found in grocery store aisles, department stores,
office buildings, as well as world famous museums and resorts
around the globe. About Fiberstars, Inc. Fiberstars, Inc. is the
