WellPoint Inc. (NYSE:WLP):  The company reported 38 percent higher earnings for the fourth quarter of 2012 at $464.2 million. On per share basis, its earnings stood at $1.51 per share, up from 96 cents per share it had earned for the fourth quarter of the previous year.

However, its operating revenue only increased 1 percent to $15.27 million. WellPoint was expected to report its earnings at $15.29 billion, however, it beat earnings estimates of 94 cents per share. The stock is currently trading at $63.85, down 0.09 percent from its previous close. The stock is trading above its 20 days moving average price of $63.79 and 50 days moving average price of $63.78.  Its 52 weeks price range stands at $52.51 and $74.73. The stock is trading at the Price Earnings ratio of 8.42. WellPoint commands market capitalization of $19.36 million. WellPoint reported $2.7 billion in revenue for the full financial year.

Novartis AG (NYSE:NVS): The stock is up on the news of its earnings and it hit its 52 weeks high price of $68.43. Novartis reported its fourth quarter net profit at $2.08 billion, up 72 percent from $1.21 billion it had earned in net income for the corresponding quarter of the last year. However, it revenue for the quarter was almost flat at $14.83 billion. The stock is currently trading at $67.57, up 3.75 percent. It is trading below its 20 days moving average price of $67.86.  The stock oscillated in the range of $67.54 and $68.43 in the current trading session.  Novartis Price Earnings ratio stands at 19.09 and it commands the market capitalization of $163.43 billion. Its stock is trading at the beta of 0.55. Novartis announced its full year net profit of the full year at $9.62 billion, up 4 percent from $9.25 billion in revenue it had reported for the previous financial year.

Packaging Corp. of America (NYSE:PKG): The stock is currently trading at $39.48, up 1.73 percent. The company reported strong result for its fourth quarter at $61 million in net income. Excluding one time items, the earnings stood at $59 million. Packaging Corp had reported its income at $39.5 million for the corresponding quarter of the last year. It is trading in the range of $38.82 and $39.53 in the current trading session.  The stock is above than its 20 days moving average price of $38.7 and 50 days moving average price of $38.63. In the past 52 weeks, the stock’s price range has been $25.77 and $40.24. The stock’s beta is 1.43 and its Price Earnings ratio is 23.48. Packaging Corp commands market capitalization of $3.88 million. The company reported its fourth quarter revenue at $736.6 million whereas its full year revenue stood at $2.8 billion.

McDonald’s Corp. (NYSE:MCD): The fast food company’s net profit for the fourth quarter stood at $1.4 billion, up 1 percent from the corresponding quarter of the last year. McDonald’s, however, said that it expects its same store sales to be negative for the month of January. Its stock traded in the range of $92.42 and $93.50 in the current trading session and at this point is at $92.84, down 0.13 percent.  The stock’s lowest price point of 52 weeks stands at $83.31 while its highest price point is at $101.29. McDonald’s stock is trading at Price Earnings ratio of 17.50 and its beta is 0.39. The company’s dividend yield stands at 3.32 percent. McDonald’s reported 2 percent increase in its quarterly sales to $6.95 billion. The company was expected to report its revenue at $6.9 billion while its earnings were pegged to be at $1.33 per share.

Abbott Laboratories (NYSE:ABT): The stock is trading at $32.79, 0.33 percent lower than its previous close. Abbott Laboratories reported 35 percent decline in its profits for the fourth quarter of the year. It net income stood at $1.05 billion. On per share basis, the company reported its net income at 66 cents per share. The company is trading in the range of $32.62 and $33.15 in the current trading session.  It has traded 4.454 million shares so far, in comparison to its daily average trading volume of 14.624 million shares. Abbott Laboratories has traded in the range of $25.83 and $34.69 in the past 52 weeks. The company stock trades at Price Earnings ratio of 8.01 and its beta is at 0.44.
