The Longest-Running Spanish-language Daily
Newspaper in the United States Will Host Its 2024 Mujeres
Destacadas Ceremony
El Diario, the longest-running Spanish-language daily newspaper,
will recognize the achievements of 31 influential Hispanic women at
the 2024 Mujeres Destacadas (Outstanding Women) ceremony on April
19, 2024. This year’s luncheon will take place at the exclusive
Harvard Club in New York City and the honorees will be featured in
a special supplement, which will be available in the Sunday edition
of El Diario on April 21, 2024.
Mujeres Destacadas was founded nearly three decades ago to
celebrate the achievements of Outstanding Latina Women in the
tri-state area and highlight the positive contributions they have
made in their community. El Diario receives nominations from
colleagues, peers and friends to recognize the work of these
activists, artists, leaders, entrepreneurs, doctors, teachers,
scientists, journalists, and more.
This annual awards ceremony highlights notable Latinas inspiring
new generations of women in their respective communities. Each
honoree has a profile and reputation for excellence, moving through
their industries with dignity and strength. These inspiring stories
lend to El Diario’s ongoing commitment to uplift Hispanic
voices.
“The entire El Diario team looks forward to this ceremony every
year and this year is no exception. We have put together a list of
truly outstanding Latinas that are paving the way for new
generations,” said Carmen Villavicencio, Executive Editor of El
Diario. “This awards program has so much significance particularly
at this moment in time as women face daunting challenges both in
the fight for equality and reproductive rights. El Diario will
continue to serve as an active voice for women in our community as
we’ve done for decades.”
