Continental AG said Wednesday that the public prosecutor and
police had searched several company locations in connection with a
Volkswagen AG shutdown device.
The German auto parts supplier said the authorities had visited
its Hannover, Frankfurt and Regensburg locations as part of their
continuing investigations.
Volkswagen has confirmed the searches took place.
Continental said the searches are in connection with a shutdown
device--software to cheat emissions tests on diesel vehicles--used
by Volkswagen in one of its diesel engines.
