Throughout the volunteering month, Wells Fargo employees
supported causes such as community development, education and the
environment. Whether it was a day with orphans, spending time at
the children’s cancer ward, or supporting education for children,
Wells Fargo EGS volunteers actively took part in more the projects
to improve their local communities.
“In Wells Fargo, we encourage our team members to volunteer and
support causes they are passionate about. We believe that working
together and contributing in small ways collectively makes a big
difference to the communities we are part of,” said Vishnupriya
Saksena, Head of Corporate Sustainability for EGS.
Some of the highlights from this year’s volunteering month
included:
- Green Fitness Challenge: Raising funds
for bikes provided to schoolchildren in far-flung areas
- Sponsored 100 books for Kythe
Foundation: Kapitan Kimo is a children’s book that tells the story
of a child stricken with cancer and how chemotherapy is
administered. Employees were trained to read the book to kids in
the cancer ward.
- Feeding, playing with and taking care
of infants and toddlers in orphanages
Volunteers felt they gained more than they gave.
“Listening to people's stories, we can get a fuller picture of
what people's lives are like; their feelings, their nuances, and
the richness of their lives,” shares Lesther Ramos, who volunteered
at the UP PGH hospital. “Listening to people also helps us get
through our numbness. There is a real person before us.”
Some of the Wells Fargo volunteers also promised to do more.
The volunteering month gives Wells Fargo team members an
incredible opportunity to get involved in our communities — by
volunteering time, giving financially, or both — to help them grow
strong and to bring our Culture of CaringSM way to life.
