IAC/InterActiveCorp said Thursday it realigned its reporting segments in the most recent quarter following the creation of its publishing unit and the spinoff of its dating website.

The company also said it would change its ticker symbol to "IAC" from "IACI." Shares of IAC/InterActiveCorp slid 1.8% to $49.79 in morning trading in New York.

In the quarter ended Dec. 31, the company created a new publishing segment, primarily from the businesses previously included in the search and applications segment. The new publishing segment includes About.com, Dictionary.com, Investopedia and The Daily Beast, which was previously part of the media segment, as well as Ask.com, ASKfm and CityGrid.

The new applications segment is made up of the company's direct-to-consumer downloadable desktop and mobile applications operations, including SlimWare and Apalon.

Match Group Inc., which completed its initial public offering Nov. 24, will be reported in its own Match Group segment. It has more than 45 brands, including Match, OkCupid, Tinder, PlentyOfFish, Meetic, Twoo, OurTime, BlackPeopleMeet and FriendScout24.

The new video segment, formerly the media segment, includes Vimeo and DailyBurn, which was previously included in the Match Group segment, as well as Electus, IAC Films, CollegeHumor and Notional.

HomeAdvisor, previously part of the now-eliminated e-commerce segment, will now be reported as its own segment.

A new "other" segment includes ShoeBuy, which was previously part of the e-commerce segment, and PriceRunner, which was previously part of the search and applications segment.

The separation of Match follows a long-standing modus operandi for Chairman Barry Diller . He has previously incubated companies such as Expedia Inc., Live Nation Entertainment Inc. and Lending Tree Inc. under the IAC roof before spinning them off. And the creation of the new publishing unit also follows the pattern. IAC typically groups properties into one operating unit before a spinoff, as it did with its Match dating properties in late 2013.
