American Science and Engineering, Inc. to Showcase Latest Innovations in Advanced Detection Solutions at the ASIS 2015 Show
September 28 2015 - 10:00AM
American Science and Engineering, Inc. ("AS&E") (Nasdaq:ASEI),
a leading worldwide supplier of innovative X-ray detection
solutions, announced today a powerful line-up of products on
display at the ASIS International Conference in Anaheim, CA from
September 28 – October 1, 2015. AS&E systems featured in its
Booth #1033 will include the next generation Z Portal® multi-view
X-ray screening system just announced last week, along with the
recently released ZBV® with Tx-View™ dual-energy transmission
option for its industry-leading ZBV mobile cargo and vehicle
screening system. In addition, the company will demonstrate the
MINI Z® handheld X-ray scanner, winner of last year’s ASIS
Accolades 2014 Best of What’s New Award, and its Gemini® parcel
X-ray inspection system.
“AS&E has been strategically focused on expanding its
product portfolio and we are excited to bring these latest
innovations to ASIS 2015,” said Chuck Dougherty, AS&E's
President and CEO. “Our goal is to continually introduce the most
advanced technologies to combat terrorism, drug and weapon
smuggling, trade fraud, and illegal immigration, and our current
products are designed to meet a variety of applications with
offerings ranging from handheld X-ray scanning to large
drive-through screening capabilities.”
The Next Generation Z Portal: Multi-view,
Multi-technology cargo and vehicle screening systemThe
next generation Z Portal® system is the only drive-through cargo
and vehicle inspection system that uses multiple detection
technologies to provide up to six views—including dual-energy
transmission, Z Backscatter®, and Forwardscatter® images—of scanned
passenger vehicles, trucks, buses, and cargo. The new Z Portal
system incorporates AS&E’s latest source and detector
innovations in a more compact design, enabling improved image
quality at higher throughput in space-constrained locations such as
checkpoints at high-threat facilities.
ZBV with Tx-View: Dual-Energy Transmission Option
for ZBVTx-View is a dual-energy transmission option
for AS&E’s industry-leading line of ZBV mobile cargo and
vehicle screening systems. This ZBV with Tx-View option allows
security personnel to simultaneously acquire dual-energy
transmission images for detection of metallic threats such as
weapons and artillery shells, and Z Backscatter images for superior
detection of organic threats and contraband. Deployed quickly and
easily, the Tx-View option is completely self-contained in a
trailer for storage and transport, providing customs and security
officials with the lowest cost, most versatile, multi-technology,
mobile cargo and vehicle screening system available today.
MINI Z: The World's First Handheld Z Backscatter Imaging
SystemThe MINI Z is the world's first handheld Z
Backscatter imaging system for fast, portable, real-time detection
of hidden drugs, explosives, and other organic threats and
contraband. The MINI Z system enables law enforcement, public
safety and other security professionals to scan in places other
systems can't reach and determine "on-the-go" if drugs, explosives,
or other threats are present in difficult-to-reach locations such
as car interiors and aircraft compartments. Experience the MINI Z
system at www.meetminiz.com.
Gemini System: For Checkpoint, Mail Room, and Small
Parcel InspectionAS&E's Gemini system provides the
most comprehensive threat detection available for hand-carried
items, mail, parcel, and baggage screening. Available in multiple
tunnel sizes, the Gemini systems' dual-energy transmission X-rays
generate a colorized, high-resolution image for detection of
metallic threats — such as guns, knives, and wires, which could
indicate an IED. Gemini's Z Backscatter X-rays generate an image
that provides enhanced detection of organic materials, such as
explosives, drugs, and plastic weapons. Together, the two
technologies provide the most information available about the
contents of a parcel. The Gemini systems can be networked for
centralized management and reporting of the threat image projection
(TIP) program, a tool that promotes screener engagement by
projecting fictitious threat images.
