Regulatory News:
Emerging green power utility company Enerji Ltd (ERJ:ASX), the
Australian partner of Opcon (STO:OPCO), the energy and
environmental technology Group, has signed a Memorandum of
Understanding with Horizon Power, a State Government-owned power
company. Enerji describes the agreement as an important milestone
in the commercialisation of Opcon Powerbox in Australia.
The Memorandum of Understanding establishes a commercial
framework for a future Power Purchase Agreement that will integrate
Enerji’s Opcon Powerbox into Horizon Power’s Carnarvon power
station. Enerji has also earmarked the first of six ordered 3rd
generation Opcon Powerboxes for Carnarvon. Horizon Power is a
commercially focused, State Government-owned power company that
operates across Western Australia, a 2.3 million square km area
that is five times the size of Sweden and includes the regions of
Pilbara, Kimberly, Gasgoyne, Mid West and Southern Goldfields, with
responsibility for among other things a major regional electricity
grid, North West Interconnected System (NWIS). The customer base
includes people and businesses in remote/isolated communities as
well as busy regional towns and major mining companies.
“This is a significant step forward towards commercialising
Opcon Powerbox in Australia and a tangible consequence of Enerji’s
focus on commercial arrangements for the roll-out of our clean
power service. We view our relationship with Horizon Power as a
strategic partnership with benefits for both parties,” says Greg
Pennefather, Managing Director and CEO of Enerji.
“It is very positive that we are now seeing the results of
Enerji’s increased focus on core business with commercial
applications. Opcon Powerbox offers improved energy efficiency,
with both business and the environmental benefits. This is
specially notable in regions such as Western Australia, with its
mining companies, isolated communities and regional centres that
rely on local, fossil-fuel based electricity production at high
cost,” says Rolf Hasselstrm, President and CEO of Opcon AB.
