Monitise Shares Up Following Two Announcements

Monitise Plc (LSE:MONI) shares were up today 3.75p and 12.82% on trading of of over 9 million shares following two important announcements.

Montise and FIS Agree To A 5-year Stategic Partnership

The company announced today that it has entered into a 5-year strategic partnership with FIS (NYSE:FIS). With over 300 banking solutions placed in over 100 geographic markets, FIS is acknowledged as having the most comprehensive array of products and services for the broadest scope of financial markets. Monitise provides mobile financial services to over 250 financial institutions in the US.

CEO Named “Entrepreneur of the Year”

On the evening of December 15th, CEO Alastair Lukies was name “Entrepreneur of the Year” at the annual Growing Business Awards 2011. As significant as it is on its own, the importance of the award is underscored by Mr. Lukies’ recent reception of the “Best AIM Company Achievment” at the 2011 Share Awards. In addition, it has been only two months since the company was named the 12th fastest growing company in the UK by the Deloitte Technology Fast 50, with a growth rate of 2,408% during the previous 5 years.

Matthew Rock, Co-founder of Real Business magazine, said: “Alastair impressed the judges with his first mover advantage: he’s taking an emerging platform and making it mainstream. Visions don’t come much bigger than Alastair’s aim of making Monitise the ‘world leader in mobile banking’. This business is on the brink of something big.”

The agreement between Monitise and FIS involves muli-million dollar revenues. The companies anticipate that their synergies will combine to make an highly agile, mobile and deployment team will advance their role in the mobile electronic payment industry through the application of their innovative products.

Monitise Group Chief Executive Alastair Lukies was quoted as saying “FIS is a clear leader in financial services technology with products and services for financial clients, ranging from small community banks to some of the largest financial institutions in the world. We are delighted to now be entering a new strategic partnership, which will complement FIS’s role as a ‘go-to’ partner for financial institutions in the fast-growing and innovative mobile money marketplace.”
