SEATTLE, Oct. 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Urbanspoon, the
leading mobile restaurant discovery application and reservation
management system, today released its list of America's Most
Popular Cheap Eats, spotlighting 100 restaurants across the
U.S. where diners can get the tastiest bang for their buck. The
list is based on a deep dive of Urbanspoon's database of more than
1 million restaurants for those eateries that received the most
coverage and reviews from professional food critics, bloggers, the
Urbanspoon community, and diners.

"Urbanspoon users know that a great meal doesn't have to end
with an exorbitant check," said Kara
Nortman, SVP of Consumer Businesses, CityGrid Media. "From
breakfast burritos to late night pizza, this list has something to
satisfy every craving without breaking the bank."
The Urbanspoon list of America's Most Popular Cheap
Eats covers 27 states and 61 metropolitan areas. It
comes as no surprise that states known for their expansive cuisine
options have a solid presence on the list, with both New York and California boasting seven restaurants each,
but strong numbers point to an array of delicious cost-conscious
options peppering states across the Midwest and South as
well. Florida topped the
list with ten restaurants appearing in the Top 100, Texas boasted nine, eight cheap eateries in
Tennessee earned nods (five in
Memphis alone), and Louisiana and Oklahoma each had six restaurants on the
list.
Popping up on the list are a plethora of delis and cafes with
mouth-watering offerings, with highlights including a Fayetteville grilled cheese joint,
St. Louis' frozen custard, and
Portland's famous Voodoo Doughnut,
all sure to inspire both local pride and hunger pangs.
Restaurants on the Urbanspoon's 2012 America's Most Popular
Cheap Eats list were selected based on a rating algorithm that
includes: blog posts on Urbanspoon; diner voting behavior; consumer
reviews; critic reviews; and page views.
