Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) on Monday reported a disruption to
unit operations and a flaring of gases at its refinery in Port
Arthur, Texas.
In a statement to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality,
the 375,000-barrel-a-day capacity refinery said the gas emissions
began Sunday morning and ended Monday morning.
"An electrical outage at a third-party utility supplier caused a
process unit upset, resulting in flaring," it said in the filing.
"Operations personnel responded as quickly as possible to address
the issue and minimize potential impacts."
A representative from the company said he didn't have details on
whether fuel output was impacted at the refinery beyond what was
available in the filing.
