Bayer (BAYRY, BAYN.XE) of Germany, Reckitt Benckiser (RBGLY, RB.LN) of the U.K., Novartis (NVS, NOVN.VX) of Switzerland and Procter & Gamble (PG) of the U.S. have their eye on some over-the-counter consumer products of U.S. pharmaceuticals giant Merck & Co. (MRK), German daily Die Welt reported on its website Monday, citing unnamed business sources.

Bayer and Reckitt Benckiser each have made bids of around $14 billion, the newspaper said. The products included Dr. Scholl's foot care and Coppertone sun protection products, the newspaper said.
