LAS VEGAS, Jan. 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Las Vegas
Sands Corp. (NYSE: LVS) is proud to recognize its global team
members who volunteer as mentors to students and young business
professionals in conjunction with International Mentoring Day on
January 17. Mentors play a vital role
in helping shape the minds of future industry leaders and is the
reason LVS continues to participate in mentoring programs at its
properties in Las Vegas,
Macao and Singapore.
In Macao, through the Sands
China Leadership Academy, more than 150 team members have
participated in a new series of strategic leadership development
programs. Additionally, over the past 18 months, senior executives
from SCL have been paired with eight high potential team members to
help develop and hone the skills needed to take on leadership roles
within the company.
At Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, day programs have been held for
local students to learn directly from experienced team members,
while plans are underway to enrich the program to further support
students specifically looking to enter the hospitality
industry.
As a part of the Sands Cares corporate citizenship program, in
Las Vegas, there are 25 mentors
currently participating at The Venetian and The Palazzo through
LVS' partnership with the University of
Nevada, Las Vegas. Since 1994, the Hotel College Mentor
Program at UNLV has been offered to
junior and senior level students, allowing them to gain firsthand
experience from their mentor over the course of a seven-month
period.
Team members take it upon themselves to give back to those who
have a thirst for knowledge in the hospitality and gaming
industries. Last year, Jack Easdale,
vice president of yield management for The Venetian and The Palazzo
in Las Vegas was honored with the
UNLV Mentor of the Year Award for his work with hotel college
student Kaiyang Wu. "I became a mentor because I wish it was
something we had in school when I was a student," says Easdale.
"It's a great way to get involved in the industry when you are
still learning."
The company's official blog, Sands Confidential, will be
highlighting these programs throughout the week to recognize the
importance of supporting students and young professionals in the
local communities where LVS operates.
