The auction of licenses to build 555 kilometers of new
electricity transmission lines and nine substations in Brazil
attracted 24 different bidders, the country's electric regulator
said Wednesday.
The auction, to take place Thursday morning in Sao Paulo, drew
interest from 14 companies and 10 groups, the regulator, known as
Aneel, said on its website.
Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras (ERB, ELET6.BR), or Eletrobras,
as the country's biggest utility is known, will participate through
several of its units. State-controlled utility Cia. Paranaense de
Energia (ELP, CPLE5.BR), ISA Group unit Cia. de Transmissao de
Energia Eletrica Paulista (CTPZY, TRPL4.BR), and Elecnor SA's
(ENO.MC) Brazilian unit are among companies that plan on bidding at
the auction, Aneel said.
