BP PLC's Whiting, Ind. refinery is undergoing seasonal maintenance, but the plant continues to operate and produce gasoline and diesel, a source close to the operations said Tuesday.

A few weeks ago a source said seasonal maintenance was expected to begin soon at the 410,000-barrel-a-day refinery, saying it could cut overall production rates by more than 50% and last a month or so.
