Technology stocks were modestly higher Monday, lifted by shares of Apple Inc., Netflix Inc. and Yahoo Inc.

Apple (AAPL) shares were up 2.4% to $520.87 ahead of the company's expected unveiling of new versions of the iPad.

Yahoo (YHOO) also climbed more than 2% on a report that Alibaba Group has won approval from both the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq for the way it plans to file for an initial public offering in which its founders and senior management would be able to maintain control on its board makeup.

Shares of Netflix Inc. (NFLX) rallied about 4% ahead of the company's quarterly report.
