Kroger Co. (KR) is one of the second-round bidders for Fresh Market Inc. (TFM), Reuters reported Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.

Fresh Market shares were recently up 18.7% to $22.06.

Buyout firms are also participating in the auction, Reuters reported.
