Queen's Award for Enterprise: Innovation

Gooch & Housego PLC (AIM: GHH), the specialist manufacturer of optical components & systems, is delighted to confirm that it has won a prestigious Queen's Award for Enterprise: Innovation in recognition of the commercial success of its laser modulation device, the Fiber-Q(TM).

Launched in 2009, Fiber-Q(TM) is a pioneering product that has rapidly become one of G&H's flagship products, establishing itself as a key component in fibre based laser systems in multiple commercial applications.

The key innovation of Fiber-Q(TM) in the control and modulation of laser beams is that it is a single fibre-coupled, compact, relatively low cost and very flexible component. It has enabled lasers to be used effectively in applications as diverse as oil and gas pipeline security monitoring, printed circuit board micro-drilling, laser surgery, medical diagnostics and microscopy.

The Fiber-Q(TM) is less complex and more robust than alternative products, and it can be easily incorporated into the architecture of customers' fibre laser systems.
