Ford and the United Auto Workers have reached a new agreement and the strike scheduled for the 1st of October did not take place. The plant in Missouri produces the For F-15 pickup truck and employs 7,500 workers. A strike would have stopped productions and could have had several effects.

"This action is necessary for two reasons," UAW Vice President Jimmy Settles announced on Tuesday. "One, it honors a commitment your national Ford delegates unanimously agreed to in March of this year, to have all local agreements completed simultaneous to the national agreement. Secondly, the company has failed to negotiate in good faith at the local level on issues surrounding manpower provisions, the national heat stress program, and skilled trades scheduling amongst others."

The United Auto Workers syndicate gave a five days strike notice to the plant's management. The strike was caused by poor worker scheduling, safety issues, staffing and seniority problems. Although the agreement averted the strike at the Ford's plant, it also caused discontent among the UAW workers.

How can a strike affect auto insurance rates?

A strike at a local plant can cause a shortage of the type of vehicle produced there, but this does not necessarily have an impact on auto insurance prices, unless the value of the vehicle suddenly increases. And indeed, a strike can cause a price hike for a certain car model, which in its turn can increase auto insurance premiums.

Only in cases of a long strike customers have to worry about expensive vehicles. If an agreement is reached in time and the crisis is averted, auto insurance premiums will not increase.

The Ford F-150 pickup truck is widely used in commercial activities and business owners must have proper coverage for it. Fortunately, finding auto insurance quotes is now easier than ever because of online brokerage websites like: http://carinsurancequotesinfo.com/.
