Dow Jones News
ConAgra Foods Inc. said Prestige Brands Holdings Inc. Chief
Financial Officer David Marberger will become ConAgra's CFO on Aug.
29 when John Gehring retires.
Mr. Gehring, whose retirement was announced in May, will assist
with the transition through the end of September. Mr. Marberger is
a former financial chief of Godiva Chocolatier and worked for
Campbell Soup Co.
Prestige Brands' portfolio of health-care and household products
includes Dramamine, Monistat, Efferdent and Comet. The company said
Mr. Marberger's departure is effective Aug. 5. Chief Executive Ron
Lombardi will be interim CFO as the company searches for a
replacement.
Mr. Gehring joined ConAgra in 2002 and assumed the CFO spot in
2009.
ConAgra, home to brands including Peter Pan, Healthy Choice and
Chef Boyardee, said Mr. Marberger will be helpful in its move to
become a "more contemporary and higher-performing company."
ConAgra and other leaders in supermarket staples have taken
steps to update their products as more customers lean toward
organic and natural foods. The Omaha, Neb., company launched a
"clean label" version of Peter Pan and organic Hunt's ketchup.
ConAgra sold its private-label business for $2.7 billion and is
spinning off its Lamb Weston potato business.
