CME Group Inc. (CME) Executive Chairman Terry Duffy said on Fox
Business Network Thursday that the exchange is "doing a little bit
of work" looking at Bitcoins.
"To be honest, we are doing a little bit of work looking at
them," he said, "but I mean a little and that's it.
"First of all they are backed up by nothing. I think there's a
little bit of misdirectives around Bitcoins and how they actually
work," he said.
"Now that there's a potential cash settlement index going
through with Bitcoins, that were developed by a couple of young
men, it will be interesting to see how that pricing mechanism kicks
in and if it adds some stability to the overall market," he
said.
"It's in its infancy right now, and you never say never, so you
keep a watch on these things," he said.
