Hooper Holmes, Inc. (NYSE MKT: HH), a leading provider of health, wellness and biometric screening services today announced the award of a new service contract with the University of Michigan for its Health and Retirement Study, a longitudinal study on health, retirement and aging sponsored by the National Institute on Aging that follows approximately 20,000 Americans over the age of 50 every two years. The contract award follows the University’s competitive bid process and two successful initial pilots in 2010-2011 and 2013, during which Hooper also worked with the University to establish custom protocols.

Under the terms of the contract, set to start in the second half of 2015, Hooper will be an integral partner responsible for the specialized collection of various biomarkers for an estimated 12,000 participants. The contract is set to run through December 31, 2016 with an optional one-year extension. Hooper’s ability to offer flexible collection capabilities which can be tailored to meet the client’s unique needs, along with its extensive national network of health professionals, allows Hooper to deliver quality screening services beyond employer groups, to also support more complex clinical and academic research.

“Hooper is pleased to have the opportunity to partner with the University of Michigan for the collection of blood specimen and biometric markers in support of its Health and Retirement Study,” said Henry Dubois, President and Chief Executive Officer and of Hooper. “It is a privilege to work with such a prestigious organization and be part of such a meaningful study. We are committed to delivering the highest level of quality and reliable service for the sponsors and participants alike. Hooper has a compelling service offering, research experience, and national footprint, to help clinical research organizations collect data for their studies. Being chosen for this study is a testament to Hooper’s success as we continue to focus and expand within the clinical research market.”

About the Health and Retirement StudyThe University of Michigan Health and Retirement Study (HRS) is a longitudinal panel study that surveys a representative sample of approximately 20,000 Americans over the age of 50 every two years. Supported by the National Institute on Aging (NIA U01AG009740) and the Social Security Administration, the HRS explores the changes in labor force participation and the health transitions that individuals undergo toward the end of their work lives and in the years that follow. The study is based at the University of Michigan Institute for Social Research (ISR), the world’s largest academic survey and social science research organization. For more information about ISR, visit home.isr.umich.edu.

Since its launch in 1992, the study has collected information about income, work, assets, pension plans, health insurance, disability, physical health and functioning, cognitive functioning, and health care expenditures. Through its unique and in-depth interviews, the HRS provides an invaluable and growing body of multidisciplinary data that researchers can use to address important questions about the challenges and opportunities of aging.
