US JOLTs job openings surprisingly slid in May
In the US, JOLTs job openings registered an unexpected drop to a level of 7323.00 K in May, compared to a revised level of 7372.00 K in the previous month. Market expectation was for JOLTs job openings to rise to a reading of 7470.00 K.
US small business optimism index dropped in June
In the US, the small business optimism index fell to a level of 103.30 in June, compared to a reading of 105.00 in the previous month. Market expectation was for the index to drop to a level of 103.10.
Canadian building permits dropped more than expected in May
In Canada, building permits registered a drop of 13.00% on a MoM basis in May, higher than market expectations for a fall of 10.00%. Building permits had advanced by a revised 16.00% in the prior month.
Canadian housing starts advanced in June
In Canada, the seasonally adjusted housing starts recorded a rise to a level of 245.70 K in June, compared to market expectations of an advance to a reading of 208.60 K. In the previous month, housing starts had registered a revised level of 196.80 K.
Chinese CPI advanced as expected in June
In China, the consumer price index (CPI) registered a rise of 2.70% on a YoY basis in June, compared to a similar rise in the prior month. Market anticipation was for the CPI to climb 2.70%.
