July 17 2014 - 8:59AM
Dow Jones News
1229 GMT In the biennial airplane-maker slugfest called the
Farnborough air show, Airbus wins by a wide margin. Both companies
disclosed end-of-show deals as Airbus secured agreements to sell
496 jets valued at $75 billion, trumping Boeing's deals for 201
airplanes with a list price value of $40.2 billion. Boeing said it
boosted its year order bookings to 783 planes, a figure Airbus has
not published. Boeing's biggest deal was for 50 777X wide-body jets
from Qatar Airways. The $13.8 billion purchase of 50 A330-900neo
widebodies by Air Asia led the Airbus tally.
