Business Wire
Save the date! The little pink book that makes Washington, D.C.
squirm is back. Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) will
release the 2017 Congressional Pig Book at a press conference this
Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at 9 am. This year marks CAGW’s 25th
edition of its exposé on pork-barrel spending. The silver
anniversary edition of the Pig Book is all the more significant
because the House of Representatives is currently considering
reversing its 2011 moratorium on the corrupt practice.
The 2017 Congressional Pig Book features a complete database of
pork projects identified by CAGW and the 2017 Pig Book Summary
profiles the most egregious examples from the fiscal year (FY) 2017
appropriations bills.
Confirmed speakers at the press conference include Sens. Jeff
Flake (R-Ariz.) and Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Republican Study Committee
(RSC) Chair Mark Walker (R-N.C.), former RSC Chair Bill Flores
(R-Texas), and Reps. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) and Jim Banks (R-Ind.).
Speakers will discuss the current state of earmark reform, the
earmark moratorium, and what must be done to permanently stop
members of Congress from practicing their swinish ways.
Update: Sen. John McCain
(R-Ariz) will no longer be attending due to his recent surgery. The
entire CAGW team wishes him a speedy recovery.
