Italy's antitrust authority Monday said it asked 11
companies--including Eni SpA (E), Total SA (TOT) and Royal Dutch
Shell PLC (RDSB)--to provide information on their gasoline prices
in Sicily, after receiving a complaint.
In a statement, the authority said it has sent requests for
information to the companies, which also include Exxon Mobil Corp.
(XOM) and ERG SpA (ERG.MI), after Sicilian regional councillor
Gaetano Armao complained that pump prices on the island are higher
than in the rest of Italy.
The companies must respond "quickly" to the requests on
information on prices, as well as on logistics and their source of
supplies.
