MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Valspar
Foundation has donated $25,000 to
Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity to help fund the A Brush with
Kindness program. Valspar and Twin Cities Habitat collaborated to
start A Brush with Kindness in 1998 and nearly 1,800 homeowners in
Minnesota have benefitted through
painting and minor home repairs.
"I'm so proud that this idea — to bring Habitat volunteers
together to give a homeowner stability through paint and repair
help — started right here in Minnesota with Valspar," said Susan Haigh, President and CEO, Twin Cities
Habitat for Humanity. "Great ideas like this always spread and now
Habitat affiliates do paint and repair work across the
country."
Approximately 400 local Habitat organizations participate in the
A Brush with Kindness program and have served nearly 13,000
low-income families since 2008.
"Valspar is proud to be a founding partner of the Brush with
Kindness Program along with Twin Cities Habitat," said Gary E. Hendrickson, Chairman and Chief
Executive Officer, Valspar. "Together, we're making communities in
the Twin Cities and across the
nation better places for kids to grow, for families to thrive and
seniors to age with the dignity and respect they deserve."
In 2015, 250 Minneapolis-based Valspar employees have
volunteered about 2,000 hours on building and painting projects
with Twin Cities Habitat.
A Brush with Kindness is a home preservation program that offers
painting, landscaping and minor repair services to eligible
homeowners so they can continue to live in safe, decent homes for
years to come. For more information about Twin Cities Habitat for
