Dow Jones News
The Justice Department has charged Hitachi-LG Data Storage Ltd.
with rigging bids on optical disk drives, according to documents
filed Friday in a California federal court.
The charges were filed in a criminal information document, which
is typically filed when a plea deal has been reached. No plea deal
was immediately posted on the court's web site.
Optical disk drives are used in everyday consumer products like
DVD and Blu-ray disk players and videogame consoles.
The Justice Department has been investigating the industry for
possible antitrust violations.
Hitachi-LG Data Storage is a joint venture between Hitachi Ltd.
(6501.TO) and LG Electronics Inc. (066570.SE).
