SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 14, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The
National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and Old Navy
have partnered for a child safety event that will take place in Old
Navy stores nationwide from September
15 through September 23. During the event, families
will receive free child safety tips and information from NCMEC that
can help keep their children safer. Customers can also support
NCMEC by making a donation at the register. The event will
coincide with Old Navy's annual Kids & Baby Sale where select styles will be up to 50
percent off.
NCMEC urges families to educate themselves about child safety,
with back-to-school season being one of the most important times of
the year to be informed and prepared. The organization has
identified patterns in attempted abductions and shares information
that parents can use to keep children safer.
"We know that 32 percent of attempted abductions happen when a
child is going to and from school or a school-related activity,"
said Linda Krieg, acting CEO of
NCMEC. "That's why we want families to talk about safety with
their children, and we're grateful to Old Navy for making it easier
to start those conversations."
On Saturday, September 19,
customers will also have an opportunity to meet local heroes at
their local Old Navy stores during an in-store child safety
fair. Participating Old Navy stores nationwide will be
inviting local law enforcement, firefighters and other local heroes
to speak with families about how they can keep their children
safer.
Reach out to your local Old Navy store or visit
www.missingkids.org/safetyevent for more information about the
event.
