volunteer hours focused on environment, education and community
enrichment
Employees from across the Exelon family of companies are
celebrating National Volunteer Week (April 12-18) by volunteering
at more than 150 employee-led service projects in the communities
Exelon serves. The projects will include cleaning up parks, serving
food to community members who are challenged by hunger and helping
to build homes with Habitat for Humanity.
National Volunteer Week is an annual, nationwide celebration of
people working to improve their communities through service. For
the ninth consecutive year, Exelon employees are organizing
community service projects this week and throughout the month of
April in which more than 2,000 employees, family members and
friends are expected to participate.
“At Exelon, we’re proud to support our employees’ dedication to
giving back to their communities, both during National Volunteer
Week and all year long,” said Chris Crane, Exelon’s president and
CEO. “By volunteering their time and energy to important causes and
organizations, our employees are the ones who make Exelon such a
strong community partner.”
Exelon encourages employees to plan their own National Volunteer
Week service projects and recruit others to participate. Projects
focus on education, environmental stewardship, diversity and
inclusion, and community enrichment. All of Exelon’s businesses
participate, including BGE and Constellation in Maryland, ComEd in
northern Illinois, PECO in southeastern Pennsylvania, and Exelon
Generation and Exelon Business Services Company in the Midwest,
Mid-Atlantic and Texas.
Exelon has a longstanding tradition of charitable giving and
service to civic and nonprofit organizations through its “Energy
for the Community” program. In 2014, more than 4,500 Exelon
employee volunteers recorded nearly 113,000 hours of service to
community non-profit organizations. This is equivalent to 2,825
workweeks or 54 years of fulltime service.
