Dominion Resources Inc. (D) plans to raise about $750 million through a stock offering, the U.S. utility company said Monday.

The Virginia-based company said it plans to sell 10.2 million shares and use the proceeds for general corporate purposes, including its planned $4.4 billion acquisition of Questar Corp.

The offering, underwritten by Citigroup, is expected to close on April 8.

Shares, up 4% over the past 12 months, fell 1.5% to $73.46 in after-hours trading.
