PARIS--French oil company Total SA said Chairman and Chief
Executive Christophe de Margerie died Monday in a plane crash at a
Russian airport.
Mr. de Margerie, who was in Russia to attend a meeting of the
government's foreign advisory council, died alongside the three
crew members on board, a Total spokeswoman said. He was 63 years
old.
The French executive was killed when his Falcon 50 business jet
gathered speed to take off at Moscow's Vnukovo airport in low
visibility, and ran into a snow-removal truck maneuvering on the
runway, the airport said in a statement.
