AUBURN HILLS, Mich.,
March 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/
-- BorgWarner received a 2014 Regional Contribution Award from
Toyota Motor Corporation during the Toyota Global Suppliers
Convention held recently in Nagoya,
Japan. The award recognizes BorgWarner's outstanding
contribution to Toyota's localization success as its sole North
American supplier of part-time four-wheel drive transfer cases for
the 2014 Tundra pick-up truck. Featuring BorgWarner's proven
electronic shift-on-the-fly technology, the transfer case delivers
quick, smooth shifts between two-wheel and four-wheel drive.
BorgWarner produces the transfer cases at its facility in
Seneca, South Carolina.
"We are honored to receive this award and pleased to support
Toyota's manufacturing facility in Texas with our high-quality, proven
technologies," said Dr. Stefan
Demmerle, President and General Manager, BorgWarner
TorqTransfer Systems. "At BorgWarner, we are passionate about
product leadership. Our sincere thanks to the employees who have
built BorgWarner's outstanding reputation as a premier transfer
case supplier."
BorgWarner's transfer cases for the Toyota Tundra switch between
two-wheel and four-wheel drive while moving (or
"shifting-on-the-fly"). An electromagnetic-based system
synchronizes the front and rear axle speeds before locking them
together, providing a smooth, quiet and consistent transition from
two-wheel to four-wheel drive with the turn of a dial. The transfer
case featured in the Toyota Tundra is also equipped with
BorgWarner's HY-VO® transfer case chain, optimized for
high-efficiency and durable performance.
