LONDON--African financial services company Atlas Mara Ltd. (ATMA.LN) has decided to appoint its co-founder and former Barclays PLC (BARC.LN) boss Bob Diamond as its interim chairman.

Mr. Diamond will replace current Chairman Arnold Ekpe, who has decided to step down at the end of his three-year term in December to concentrate on other interests, the U.K.-listed company said Tuesday.

Atlas Mara, which is slated to report its third quarter results on Oct. 25, also said it has seen continued positive operational momentum in the three months to September-end as reported in the first half results published in August.
