AutoZone Inc. agreed to acquire Interamerican Motor Corp., a deal to boost its offerings of import car parts.

IMC currently operates 17 locations and is the second-largest distributor of original equipment quality import replacement parts in the U.S., AutoZone said in a statement. Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.

"The company's leadership in import car parts coverage will be an exceptional fit with AutoZone's current product assortment," Chief Executive Bill Rhodes said.

IMC was acquired from German company Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG--a producer of replacement parts for the automotive aftermarket-- which, through the sale, is seeking to strengthen its focus production of high quality automotive replacement parts, AutoZone said.
