TAIPEI--Another executive of Taiwan panel maker AU Optronics
Corp. (2409.TW) has been jailed in the U.S. for price fixing, the
U.S. Department of Justice said on Monday.
AU Optronics declined to comment on Tuesday.
Leung Shiu-lung, a former senior manager at AU Optronics'
desktop-display unit, was found guilty of fixing with competitors
from May 2002 to December 2006 the price of liquid-crystal-display
panels, the department said in a statement.
He was jailed for two years and fined US$50,000.
AU Optronics' former Vice Chairman Chen Hsuan-bin and Vice
President Hsiung Hui earlier received similar sentences.
Eight companies have been convicted in the U.S. and have been
fined a combined $1.39 billion and 13 executives jailed for terms
between six and 36 months, the U.S. department said in the
statement.
The U.S., Japan, Korea and European countries began
investigating alleged world-wide price fixing of LCDs in 2006.
