NEW YORK, Jan. 30, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Having struggled with Crohn's Disease since the early 90's, Warren Sulmasy joined the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) in January 2013 to help find a cure for those who struggle with the chronic diseases.

In the early 90's, Sulmasy's health began to deteriorate over a period of several months. He lost, 50 pounds and was constantly fatigued. He endured rounds of tests and medication from 12 different doctors until he was finally diagnosed with Crohn's Disease.

At this point in time, he was forced to take a couple years off work because the disease was debilitating. By researching the disease and with the help of his doctor, they were finally able to find the right combination of medicines and strict diet so he could live a healthy productive life.

Crohn's disease was not popularly known and treated at the time Sulmasy was diagnosed. It is this reason that he not only made a donation but became a member of the CCFA. His wish is for society and doctors to become even more informed on the subject matter and that a cure can be found in the near future.

Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis are painful diseases that affect about 1.4 million Americans. These diseases are not selective as they affect adults and children alike. These incurable illnesses can have severe complications that can lead to patients having to endure surgery or being diagnosed with colon cancer.

About Warren Sulmasy
Warren Sulmasy attended Franklin and Marshall College in Pennsylvania and graduated in 1984 with a major in mathematics. After graduation, he moved to New York to work on Wall Street as a floor trader for the American stock exchange. In the mid 90's he started a day trading firm while teaching securities trading strategies at the New York Institute of Finance. He is currently the founder and CEO of Trinus Investment Partners.

Family and successful businessman, Sulmasy was born and raised on the East Coast. Son of a New York police officer and stay-at-home mother.

His older brother Daniel Sulmasy is a renowned bioethicist who currently sits on the United States President's Bioethics council. His sister Cathy Sulmasy is a real estate agent in Darien, Ct. His other brother Glenn Sulmasy is a captain in the Coast Guard and an expert on national security who advised the current administration on national security issues.
