Johnson issued the following statement today in response to
the murders of two NYC police officers this afternoon:
"I am outraged and horrified by the cold blooded murder of two
New York City Police Officers. Our
thoughts and prayers go out to the officer's families, the
New York City Police Department,
and the citizens of New York City.
I have reached out to Mayor Bill de
Blasio and have offered my condolences and the full support
of mayors from across the country. An attack on police
officers of any kind violates our sensibilities and shakes our
community's confidence to the core."
The U.S. Conference of Mayors is the official nonpartisan
organization of cities with populations of 30,000 or more. There
are nearly 1400 such cities in the country today, and each city is
represented in the Conference by its chief elected official, the
